Times of the School Day

As of September 2015, the school day at Priory School will change slightly.  We have done this in order to move from five to six lessons a day to allow pupils a wider range of curriculum choices and increased time in the core curriculum areas of English, Maths and Science.

As a result, the shape and timings of the day will be altered to follow the timetable below:

Period 1 8:25 am – 9.20 am
Period 2 9.20 am – 10.15 am
Break 10.15 am – 10.40 am
Period 3 10.40 am – 11.35 am
Period 4 11.35 am – 12.30 pm
Break 1 and Break 2/Tutor 12.30 – 13.25 (25 min lunch/25 min tutor)
Period 5 13.25 pm – 14.20 pm
Period 6 14.20 pm – 15.10 pm

Break 2 / Tutor Split:

Y7, Y9 & Y11 12:30 – 12:55 break
Transition 12:55 – 13:00
Y8 & Y10 13:00 – 13:25 break

Transition bells: First bell Y7, 9 and 11 go to Tutor Groups. Y8 and Y10 DO NOT re-lease until second bell by which time Y7, 9 and 11 must be in Tutor Groups.

Assembly Pattern
Y11—Monday / Y10—Tuesday / Y9—Wednesday / Y8—Thursday / Y7—Friday

The pupils will know when their lunch or tutor times will be.  The normal wide range of extra-curricular clubs and activities will run at morning breaktime when there will also be an opportunity for cold food and drinks to be bought.  Tutor rooms will also be open so that pupils can socialise with their friends. The school day will start immediately with Period 1 at 8.25 and pupils will be registered in this lesson.  Punctuality is essential, or your child may miss valuable teaching time. The school day will finish slightly later at 15.10.

We hope you will appreciate the reasons behind this change which will allow a more diverse and focused curriculum to support your child to achieve their best.
