Homework

The purpose of homework at Priory school is to encourages students to acquire the knowledge and skills to become more independent learners, consolidate and reinforce learning at school, extend school learning and encourage exploration and a discovery of the enrichment value of learning, keep parents involved in the management of the learning experience and enable the management of particular demands.

How parents can support their child with homework

Parents have a key role to play in the monitoring of the learning process.  Parents can log into class charts via their website or via the app ‘class charts parents.’ When you log in you will be able to see your child’s homework, and confirmation that it has been completed.

A guide for class charts can be found here: https://pages.classcharts.com/wp-content/uploads/Class_Charts_for_parents_guide.pdf

We will have provided you with parental log in details – we ask that all parents log in regularly to support homework completion.

If you have any problems with your password for class charts please email rspalding@priorysouthsea.org directly, and we will support you further.

Parents can support by providing students with an environment where distractions are minimised, and help can be important for ensuring homework is completed to the highest standards – students should be encouraged to think about the issues, to reflect on their answers.  Parents can also assist with revision skills.

The role of google classrooms for homework

Google classrooms have been set up for every class. Classcharts will inform you as a parent what the homework is, and when it is due etc. However most class charts entries will direct students to their google classroom, where the resources will be found. This will allow a more interactive experience for the students, and allow staff to provide students with more in depth feedback. Some subjects will continue to use other platforms such as Lexia and Hegarty Maths.

Homework Timetable

At Priory school homework will be set through class charts according to our homework timetable. Our homework timetable is specific to each year group, and can be found on the attached document.
