When your child joins Priory School, they will need an iPad in lessons.
Our vision is that every child will have access to an iPad for their sole use both at home every evening, during the holidays and at school, to ensure that they can learn at any time. The iPad gives the opportunity to develop personalised student-centred learning.
Our decision is based on a range of educational research that shows it encourages engagement, collaboration, leadership and enquiry skills which will promote learning and progression.
Recent changes to DfE / Government guidance mandate schools to install device management software on all connected devices and we are rolling this out for all students. Please see this Government publication for more information.

If you have another child with an iPad purchased through our iPad scheme we can offer a discounted rate for the 3 Year Option. Year 7 & 8 Use code BET005 , Year 9 Use Code BET006 for the 3 Year Option.
It’s important to note that any iPad purchased through the portal remains the property of Priory School for the duration of the insurance term. You will gain ownership of the device on the expiry of the insurance term if all voluntary contributions have been made to cover the full cost of the iPad. Failure to pay the contributions will result in the device remaining the property of Priory School.
We strongly advise that you read the information regarding the voluntary finance agreement on the portal website before purchasing a device. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly regarding the current iPad offer (ipads@priorysouthsea.org)
Yours Sincerely,
Mr Barry-John Silver

Across the Bohunt Education Trust, the iPad 1:1 scheme has been highly praised by OFSTED and the local authorities. We will ensure that students use iPads responsibly and effectively in lessons. We will not allow iPad use during social time, because we prioritise students’ face-to-face social interactions.
It is true, however, that in the modern world, much of the socialising that young people do is online, via social media and messaging platforms etc. Keeping young people safe in this online world is hugely important but can be a thorny issue. In order to support you in this endeavour, we will be putting together some specific Priory resources to support parents and students; and have put together some advice and further links that may be of use.
If you ever have concerns regarding your child’s safety online that you would like support with, please get in touch with their Progress Leader or tutor.
