Careers education is a shared responsibility across our school, with all teaching staff and departments playing an important role in helping students understand how their learning connects to future opportunities. Departments are actively developing and embedding careers learning within their subject areas, helping students recognise the relevance of their studies and explore the wide range of pathways available to them.
We aim to bring learning to life by connecting classroom experiences with the world of work. School trips and enrichment activities increasingly incorporate Labour Market Information (LMI) and opportunities to engage with employers and workplaces, broadening students’ understanding of different industries, occupations and career pathways.
We celebrate National Apprenticeship Week in February, and National Careers Week each March, with careers-focused learning taking place across every subject and year group. This provides students with opportunities to explore future possibilities, challenge stereotypes and develop their understanding of the skills and qualifications needed for different careers.
We also encourage staff to identify opportunities to enrich careers learning through trips, events and classroom activities. This may include inviting employers and professionals to share their career journeys, providing workplace insights and offering practical experiences that inspire students and help them make informed decisions about their futures.
